✦ All People Welcome

Open & Affirming Faith

LGBTQ+ people are fully welcome in the Catholic Church. Learn how Magdalene House lives this truth through authentic theology, inclusive practice, and radical hospitality.

The Gospel is Radically Inclusive

Jesus spent his ministry with the marginalized, the excluded, and those deemed unworthy by religious authorities. He ate with tax collectors, healed on the Sabbath, and affirmed the dignity of women in a patriarchal society. This same radical inclusion is at the heart of the Gospel.

At Magdalene House, we believe that LGBTQ+ people are not an exception to the Gospel—we are part of its fulfillment. We are called to love our neighbors as ourselves, and that love must be unconditional, affirming, and sacramental.

What Open & Affirming Means

Full Sacramental Welcome

LGBTQ+ people are welcome to receive all sacraments—Eucharist, Confession, Marriage, Holy Orders—without restriction or judgment.

Authentic Theology

We affirm LGBTQ+ identities as part of God's good creation. Sexual orientation and gender identity are not obstacles to holiness; they are part of who God made you to be.

Inclusive Leadership

LGBTQ+ people serve in all roles in our community—as lectors, musicians, pastoral ministers, and spiritual directors. We are visible and valued.

Safe Community

We actively work to create a space free from judgment, discrimination, and shame. You can be fully yourself here.

Our Commitment to You

If you've been hurt by the Church—if you've been told you're not welcome, that your love is sinful, or that you need to change who you are—we want you to know: that was wrong. You deserve better. You deserve a community that celebrates who you are and affirms your dignity as a beloved child of God.

Most importantly, we are explicitly open and affirming. We welcome all people—regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, or background—into the fullness of sacramental life and community. This is not a concession or an afterthought. It is central to who we are and how we understand the Gospel.
